Nestled among trees and alongside a meandering creek, lies this magnificent home. John was hired to help the owners manage this large estate with acres of gardens, multiple water features and complex mechanical systems. Over the course of five years, the home was meticulously maintained and improved. Projects ranged from a complete interior refresh to contracting major repairs and landscaping installations.
The owners of this beautiful home wanted to create a minimalist spa-like retreat. Under their direction, John worked to make that dream become a reality. Ongoing projects ranged from installing new lighting and custom furnishings to introducing wallcoverings and overseeing daily maintenance.
The family who owns this charming Texas-Tuscan home were avid collectors of his Christmas ornaments. When they learned John lived nearby, they hired him to decorate their home for the holidays. After the holidays, and for the following five years, John assumed the responsibilities of maintaining and improving their home. Projects ranged from daily maintenance and repairs or adding new poolside furniture to bathroom remodels and landscaping upgrades.
To celebrate friends and the beginning of summer, John was asked to produce a wine tasting event. All details were handled from creating the embossed invitations and signature cocktails to party decor and the wine-paired menu.
The challenge given to John was to decorate a modern home for the holidays that compliment the clean style of the home while still pleasing the kids. The resulting installation was a blend of playful and graphic patterns, soft textures and contemporary accents. John created the simple tablescapes for the big holiday family dinner.
John was asked to soften the edges and add warmth to rooms that would soon be inhabited by the familie’s energetic children. The request was to add color, functionality and playfulness to a suite of rooms, while acknowledging the house’s austere aesthetic. The results balance soft surfaces, bright colors and playful patterns against the restrained, geometric architecture.
Beginning in early 2018, John was hired as the acting site lead manager for two office buildings along the historic San Francisco Embarcadero. He and his staff oversee building operations and are responsible for the wellbeing of both the wonderful tenants, and the beautiful 19th century architecture.
It would be an understatement to say that John Toole loves Christmas. He made a career of it. For two decades John designed and imported European-produced holiday decorations. He sold to luxury boutiques, museum shops and up-scale department store across the globe. His designs were featured in national publications and on morning entertainment programs. Later he developed products for Home Depot and Macy’s at Martha Stewart.
